Hey friends,
My name is Amanda aka DoubleA :) My content area is English.
I love literature, reading and performance arts. Music, Traveling & Soccer are also a big part of my life. It has been a long rode to get to this turning point in my life and I am equally nervous & excited. I am thankful for this course b/c although I feel comfortable with technology everything on the syllabus is new to me. I feel like you guys already know so much about me but here goes...
Recently I have been very much into Latin American Literature and magical realism - which is a genre in English that means a realistic story or setting but where magical or unrealistic things happen. It's pretty cool.
I am pretty into Soccer and sadly just found out that a number of the World Cup games (b/c they are in South Africa) will be played at 7am and/or 2pm our time - which is when we are in class. Boo. But I might be watching them some Fridays in a pub somewhere so let me know if ya wanna join in!
I really love music and dancing - all kinds! I think my summer song this year though will be 'Nothin' on you babe' by B.o.B - it makes me smile and I can picture myself headin to the beach with that blasting!
Let's see...well I have travelled alot and I think that if I won the lottery that's what I would do - travel the world. I hope to teach in other countries as well. Two of my favorite places were - San Diego, CA trip - because I got to drive 9 hours to see the GRAND CANYON! We hiked about 7 miles and I will upload pics b/c it's pretty insane. Another trip that blew my mind was my trip to Tahiti, French Polynesia. It truly is a lost world, paradise type place. I got to swim with Stingrays and Black tip reef sharks - WAY COOL!
It was really cool to hear all of your stories yesterday.
I can not believe we are almost finished with our first week of class already. Good luck on all the homework. That's all for now! ~aa

ReplyDeleteI love your picture you and your friend at the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is on the list of places that we want to take the kids but we have not made it there yet. A friend of mine went white water rafting there in April. She loved the Grand Canyon but doubts she will visit it again using the rafting route since it was really cold (and wet!).

That is so cool Laura! You should absolutely take them if you ever can. It would be an amazing learning experience for them (it was for me) and it is truly unlike anything you have ever seen before! I know of a couple people who did the rafting and heard it is pretty nuts. Our hike was titled medium level of difficulty and on our way back I was kind of scared! It was very physically demanding. If you take the kids on a hike consult people who have gone before, safety measures and definitely do an easy hike so that it is fun for everyone! Oh and bring PLENTY of water. When we hiked it was not even summer yet and it was easily 90 degrees - we ran out of water on the last hour so we were cutting it close! Overall it is a life changing experience. Would love to talk more about it sometime :)
